BRANDON CHESTER, PCLC
Brandon works with adults and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, relationship and family concerns, identity development, life transitions, burnout, grief, trauma, substance use concerns and recovery, as well as questions related to meaning, purpose, spirituality, and self-understanding. He finds it especially meaningful to work with clients who feel stuck, conflicted, or ready for something in their usual experience to change. This may involve finding a new perspective on a well-worn pattern or exploring thoughts, feelings, and desires that have been difficult to understand or put into words.
Brandon believes therapy works best when clients feel understood, accepted, and free to explore their experiences openly. He aims to create a space where clients can speak freely without fear of judgment or shame. His style is relational, collaborative, and grounded in everyday language.
Brandon sees the therapeutic relationship as central to the work. He’s found that connection can deepen when he draws appropriately from his own experience or puts words to something that may usually remain unspoken. As trust develops, sessions may move between humor and levity, honest introspection, quiet difficulty, and moments of insight or inspiration. Some clients benefit from clear goals and structure, while others prefer a more open and exploratory process, and Brandon aims to remain flexible to what is most useful while keeping sight of the larger work.
Brandon also has particular experience working with those exploring substance use concerns, their relationship to substances, or recovery, and approaches these conversations collaboratively and without judgment.
Brandon earned his undergraduate degree in Comparative & World Literature from San Francisco State University and his MS in Marriage, Couples, and Family Counseling from Montana State University, where he also completed a Graduate Certificate in Addictions Counseling.
Outside of work, Brandon enjoys spending time with his family, playing music in bands around town, tinkering with home-recording projects, and going on adventures with his dog, Winnie.
Brandon is a Professional Counselor Licensure Candidate (PCLC) supervised by Chris Berman, LCPC.
