Rethinking Your Relationship with Alcohol, Substances or Compulsive Behaviors

Our Philosophy

Pursuing addiction counseling is about exploring and improving your relationship with substances and/or compulsive behaviors, as well as harm mitigation, not solely abstinence.

We are not here to force an agenda, label you as an addict, or decide what recovery should look like for you. That part is yours.

We believe that counseling is most effective when tailored to each individual and their needs. Our approach is compassionate, direct, and solutions-focused, helping you take tangible steps toward your specific long-term goals.

There are moments when life can feel out of alignment. Maybe you've started questioning your relationship with substances, or certain behaviors or you decide to cut back and find it harder than you anticipated. Whether it's alcohol, marijuana, or something else entirely, you don’t have to call it a problem or label it as an addiction in order to seek counseling. If it's taking up more space in your life than you'd like, that's enough of a reason to get curious and connect with a specialist who can help.

Our office is not a space built on judgment or assumptions. It's a space where we slow things down enough to understand:

  • What substances or certain behaviors are doing for you

  • What they're helping you cope with

  • What might feel hard, empty, or overwhelming without them

Most of the time, these are coping mechanisms for stress, loneliness, pressure, or the need to feel relief or numbness. Our work together is about building awareness, not shame. Together, we will explore:

  • Emotional and environmental triggers

  • The role substances or compulsive behaviors play in your daily life

  • Patterns in your use or habits

  • What you're actually needing in those moments

As a result of this exploration, we identify healthier ways to regulate stress and emotion and create more intention where things used to feel automatic. Our approach focuses on:

  • Stabilizing patterns so daily life feels less chaotic

  • Reducing harm while honoring where you are in the process

  • Building a sustainable path forward that works long-term

  • Reconnecting you to your sense of control and possibility

There is no "right" way to do this, so we'll find what works for you based on your specific long-term goals. People wait too long to reach out because they think they should be able to handle it on their own, feel unsure whether their habits are "bad enough," or they're afraid of being judged. At ManMade Mentors, you will be met with curiosity instead of assumptions and compassion instead of judgment.

Many people who reach out aren't sure they're "ready.” Readiness isn't a requirement here. Whether you are sober curious, navigating a compulsive pattern that you want to change, looking to support a loved one, or your substance use feels more serious, overwhelming, or difficult to control — you are welcome here.
