Rethinking Your Relationship with Alcohol, Substances or Compulsive Behaviors

Our Philosophy

Pursuing addiction counseling is about exploring and improving your relationship with substances and/or compulsive behaviors, as well as harm mitigation, not solely abstinence.

We are not here to force an agenda, label you as an addict, or decide what recovery should look like for you. That part is yours.

We believe that counseling is most effective when tailored to each individual and their needs. Our approach is compassionate, direct, and solutions-focused, helping you take tangible steps toward your specific long-term goals.

There are moments when life can feel out of alignment. Maybe you've started questioning your relationship with substances, or certain behaviors or you decide to cut back and find it harder than you anticipated. Whether it's alcohol, marijuana, or something else entirely, you don’t have to call it a problem or label it as an addiction in order to seek counseling. If it's taking up more space in your life than you'd like, that's enough of a reason to get curious and connect with a specialist who can help.

Our office is not a space built on judgment or assumptions. It's a space where we slow things down enough to understand:

  • What substances or certain behaviors are doing for you

  • What they're helping you cope with

  • What might feel hard, empty, or overwhelming without them

Most of the time, these are coping mechanisms for stress, loneliness, pressure, or the need to feel relief or numbness. Our work together is about building awareness, not shame. Together, we will explore:

  • Emotional and environmental triggers

  • The role substances or compulsive behaviors play in your daily life

  • Patterns in your use or habits

  • What you're actually needing in those moments

As a result of this exploration, we identify healthier ways to regulate stress and emotion and create more intention where things used to feel automatic. Our approach focuses on:

  • Stabilizing patterns so daily life feels less chaotic

  • Reducing harm while honoring where you are in the process

  • Building a sustainable path forward that works long-term

  • Reconnecting you to your sense of control and possibility

There is no "right" way to do this, so we'll find what works for you based on your specific long-term goals. People wait too long to reach out because they think they should be able to handle it on their own, feel unsure whether their habits are "bad enough," or they're afraid of being judged. At ManMade Mentors, you will be met with curiosity instead of assumptions and compassion instead of judgment.

Many people who reach out aren't sure they're "ready.” Readiness isn't a requirement here. Whether you are sober curious, navigating a compulsive pattern that you want to change, looking to support a loved one, or your substance use feels more serious, overwhelming, or difficult to control — you are welcome here.

Addiction Counseling Bozeman

Addiction Counseling Services

  • For those who need a professional assessment of their substance use, we provide Chemical Dependency Evaluations. These evaluations can help determine the level of care needed and provide a clear path forward, whether for personal insight, legal requirements, or treatment planning.

  • Addiction rarely exists in isolation. Many who struggle with addiction also face anxiety, depression, trauma, or other mental health challenges. We encourage addiction counseling as either a standalone service or in conjunction with counseling with one of our other experienced therapists.

This integrated approach ensures that you receive comprehensive support addressing both addiction and any underlying emotional challenges or trauma.

Addiction Counseling focuses on behavior changes, psychoeducation, and accountability, while the other counselor can help address broader mental health concerns. They help clients process emotions, build insight, and address the deeper psychological and relational patterns that often accompany addiction.

  • ManMade Mentors can be a trusted resource for court-mandated counseling. If you or someone you know has been required to complete counseling due to a DUI, drug-related offense, or other legal matter, we provide structured sessions to meet these requirements while also helping you create meaningful change in your life.

  • Screens, social media, gaming, and online content are woven into daily life. For some, use crosses into compulsion. If technology is interfering with your sleep, relationships, work, or sense of self, it may be time to take a closer look.

We help you understand the underlying needs driving compulsive tech use and develop a healthier, more intentional relationship with the digital world — without judgment and without pressure to unplug entirely.

  • Are you questioning cultural drinking norms? While you don’t identify as an addict, do you feel that drinking is holding you back from living your best life? If so, Sober Curious Coaching may be the right fit for you.

Coaching offers personalized sessions focused on your goals—whether it’s reducing, pausing, or eliminating alcohol use. With practical strategies and tools for navigating social settings and stress without relying on substances, your Coach offers accountability and encouragement.

Sessions focus on identifying and understanding the underlying causes of why you turn to alcohol as a coping mechanism, while creating new routines and habits related to nutrition, movement, sleep, etc. that support sober living, energy, and mental clarity.

  • Addiction affects more than just the person struggling — it ripples through families, relationships, and everyday life. At ManMade Mentors, we offer Coaching for loved ones in an effort to support the people who love someone battling addiction.

Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to help, we offer a space to learn, set healthy boundaries, strengthen communication, and take care of your own emotional well-being.

This service is designed to give you tools, clarity, and support as you navigate the complex realities of addiction with strength and compassion.
